The UK Home Office has introduced the UK eVisa as a replacement for Biometric Residence Permits (BRP) and Biometric Residence Cards (BRC). This new digital proof of immigration status affects candidates booking Secure English Language Tests (SELT) with Trinity College London. Candidates can now use their UK eVisa to book a Trinity SELT exam by providing a Share Code during the booking process.
Booking a Trinity SELT Exam with a UK eVisa
Candidates booking a Trinity SELT exam using a UK eVisa must provide a Share Code on Trinity’s booking website: Trinity SELT Booking. On the test day, Trinity staff will verify the candidate’s immigration status using the provided Share Code.
Accepted Forms of ID
A full list of accepted ID types for Trinity SELT exams is available in the Trinity SELT ID Policy. Candidates using a UK eVisa will not need to bring additional forms of ID to the test centre. However, those booking with a physical ID, such as a passport, must present the original document on the test day, as Trinity does not accept photocopies of any ID.
Generating a UK eVisa Share Code
Candidates must generate their UK eVisa Share Code via the official UK government portal: View and Prove Immigration Status. When generating their Share Code, candidates should select the option ‘To prove my immigration status for anything else.’
Important Considerations
- Candidates must enter their UK eVisa Share Code and its expiry date exactly as displayed when booking their SELT exam.
- If incorrect Share Code details are entered, candidates may be unable to take the test and will not receive a refund.
The transition to the UK eVisa streamlines the identity verification process for SELT candidates. It is essential for candidates to follow the correct procedures to ensure a smooth booking and testing experience. Hamlets Training Centre advises all candidates to carefully review the guidelines before booking their exam to avoid any issues on the test day.
