These courses are for people who need to comply with first aid health and safety requirements at work. First aid is not only a requirement in many workplaces and volunteering organisations, but it is also accepted as a life skill; something everyone should learn. All organisations must ensure by law that they have a sufficient number of employees who possess the first-aid qualification to fulfil their first-aid needs at all times.
FIRST AID
Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at the Workplace (RQF)
This qualification is specifically for those individuals who are to become an emergency first-aider in the workplace. The Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)qualification meets the requirements of both the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.of both the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid and is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments. This is the most popular first aid qualification. The Emergency First aid at work qualification is the choice of many employers to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations
The Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is ideal for those employers that need to meet the minimum requirement of first aid regulations; typically, those working in shops, offices and other low risk environments.
Pre-Requisites: This qualification is available to those over 16 years. Candidates should be at least a level 2 numeracy and literacy or equivalent
Progression route: Learners may progress onto the following qualifications:
- QNUK Level 3 Award in First aid at Work (RQF)
- QNUK Level 3 Award in Responding to Incidents with an AED (RQF)

Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF)- 1 day
This one-day course focuses on emergency scenarios that may face those looking after babies and young children.
Who should attend?
This course is for people working with and caring for babies and young children. It is designed for individuals wishing to gain the knowledge and skills required to enable them to provide effective emergency paediatric first aid. Parents or family members and unregulated child carers such as nanny’s and Au pairs will find this course also useful.
What you will learn?
This qualification has been developed to meet the first aid training requirement outlined by the EYFS. You will understand the role and responsibilities of the emergency paediatric first aider, have the ability to assess an emergency and prioritise your actions. This course includes:
- What is First Aid?
- First Aid in the Early Years setting
- Responsibility of the first aider
- Primary survey
- Unconscious casualty management
- Child and infant resuscitation
- Choking
- Shock
- Wounds and bleeding
- Minor burns
- Seizures
- Allergic reactions

Certification
Successful candidates will receive a certificate of Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) from an approved awarding body.
Validity of certificate
Certificate which is valid for three years.
Important additional information
In line with Ofsted Early Years and Childcare Register requirements, at least one person who has a current full paediatric first aid certificate must be on the premises and available at all times when children are present and must accompany children on outings. Childminders, and any assistant who might be in sole charge of the children for any period of time, must hold a current two day full paediatric first aid certificate.
